Davey Dodds & Gillie Hotston
Davey Dodds has been enduring a lengthy absence from playing music, courtesy of the dreaded Cancer. He's improving, tollerating, his immunotherapy and looking forward to playing live again.
On the 13th of February, he will be returning to Hanger Farm Arts Centre in Southampton. He will be joined by the fabulous Gillie Hotston who plays electric violin with verve and passion.
Davey's music is described as Celtic, psychedelic, life-affirming and Pagan. His website – www.daveydodds.com features a number of YouTube videos showing his live performances. He is a songwriter of some renown. His classic, 'The Magpie' was covered by 'The Unthanks' and has featured in several television programmes, notably The Detectorists. It was broadcast from The Proms in 2018 and more recently, has been performed by David Gilmour! Davey has been busy, working on a new 'Wheel of the Year' album and his performance will include several pieces from this new work.
This will be a special gig. Davey's arresting lyrics will be accompanied by Celtic rhythms and stunning musicianship with Davey playing his octave mandolin and Gillie Hotston weaving magic with her electric violin. Not to be missed!
