The Enid
The Enid are delighted to return to Hanger Farm Arts Centre for this seated concert featuring both the new, the familiar, and a few surprises.
2024 sees the expansion of the band's touring line-up with the recent introduction of virtuoso guitarist, Alfredo Randazzo, and renowned bassist and keyboardist, Tim Harries.
50 YEARS OF MUSIC MAKING
The Enid was formed in the 70s to explore progressive ideas in music and the experimental theology that underpin the compositions. The way the band creates and communicates its ideas may have changed over the years, but the philosophy of the band has stood the test of time and continues to live by it today.
Defining the music of The Enid is never easy. The Guardian described the band as “Pink Floyd meets The Orb meets the Berlin Philharmonic”. Alan Freeman of the BBC said, “The Enid is the only band on the planet to have successfully fused rock-based music with the power, dynamics, and scale of symphonic classical music”.
The Enid was founded by Robert John Godfrey, Francis Lickerish and Stephen Stewart in 1973, recording their debut album, In The Region Of The Summer Stars the following year. (Released through EMI International).
The early years of the band were personified by two lead guitarists, fighting it out on stage in front of large crowds at the famous London Marquee Club. Since the 1980s the band had to make do with just one magnificent virtuoso – Stephen Stewart.
